The newly appointed Inspector General (IG) of the Armed Police Force (APF), Narayan Dutta Poudyal, has been conferred with his rank insignia.
Home Secretary Rajkumar Shrestha presented the insignia to IG Poudyal on Monday.
A Cabinet meeting held on April 27 had appointed Poudyal as the 13th inspector general of the Armed Police Force. His predecessor, Raju Aryal, retired on May 1.
Originally from Surkhet, Poudyal began his career in Nepal Police as an inspector in 1997 and transferred to the Armed Police Force in 2001.
Poudyal, who holds a master's degree (MA), is known as a seasoned officer with nearly three decades of experience in security services.
During his tenure, his responsibilities have ranged from commanding a striking team in Rolpa to leading the Area Police Office in Birtamode, Jhapa.
Within the APF, he has held leadership roles in Dang and Bardiya and played significant roles in border security, administration, human resources, and operations department.
His career trajectory saw him rise from deputy superintendent of police (DSP) to additional inspector general (AIG), and finally to the helm of the force.
He has also served as the brigade commander for Lumbini and Gandaki provinces.
Internationally, he has served in UN Peacekeeping missions in Liberia and Kosovo and has undergone advanced training in security, counter-terrorism, and leadership development in the United States, Italy, China, and Sri Lanka.
For his distinguished service, Poudyal has been decorated with prestigious medals, including the Suprabal Janasewashree, Prabal Janasewashree, and Gorkha Dakshin Bahu.
