The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a circular to all 77 District Administration Offices, instructing them to identify government and public land under encroachment.
The circular was issued on Wednesday by the ministry’s section officer Krishna Devkota.
According to the directive, each district must identify encroached government and public land, seek a plan from the relevant agencies for clearing those encroachments, and then submit it to the ministry.
The circular also states that, after the ministry grants approval, appropriate security arrangements should be put in place to carry out the removal of encroachments.
"As per the (secretary-level) decision dated April 29, 2026, it is requested that you identify encroached government and public land in coordination with the relevant agencies, request a plan from those bodies for removing the encroachments and send it to this ministry. It is requested that you arrange for appropriate security and other necessary facilitation for the removal process following the ministry’s approval," the circular states.
