The session of both houses of the Federal Parliament summoned by the president has been postponed for the time being.
According to Kiran Pokharel, press advisor to President Ram Chandra Paudel, the president postponed the session of both houses following a recommendation made by Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.
On Wednesday, based on a Cabinet recommendation from April 21, President Paudel had summoned a session of both houses of the Federal Parliament for April 30.
"President Ram Chandra Paudel, in accordance with Article 93 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, had summoned a session of both houses of the Federal Parliament for Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 14:00 hours at the Federal Parliament Building, Singha Durbar, based on the Cabinet's recommendation dated April 21, 2026. However, as per the Cabinet's recommendation dated April 23, 2026, he has postponed the summoning of the said session of both houses due to special reasons," states a press release issued by Ritesh Kumar Shakya, spokesperson for the Office of the President.
