Lila Kumari Bhandari, the newly elected vice-chairperson of the National Assembly, has been sworn into office.
On Tuesday, National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal administered the oath of office and secrecy to Bhandari in the presence of President Ram Chandra Paudel amid a ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas.
The ceremony was attended by Vice-president Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Balen Shah, Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal, Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, along with ministers, lawmakers, heads of constitutional bodies, and senior government officials.
Bhandari, a lawmaker from the CPN-UML, was elected unopposed as the National Assembly vice-chairperson on Monday.
She was elected to the National Assembly from Sudur Paschim province in the elections held on January 25.
