The government has recalled ambassadors from six countries.
According to an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors appointed by a previous government based on political background have been asked to return within one month.
Those recalled include Ambassador to India Shankar Prasad Sharma, Ambassador to Australia Chitra Lekha Yadav, Ambassador to Sri Lanka Purna Bahadur Nepali, Ambassador to South Korea Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe, Ambassador to Denmark Sumnima Tuladhar, and Ambassador to South Africa Kapil Shrestha, the official said.
Earlier, the interim government led by Sushila Karki had recalled 11 ambassadors from various countries. However, those appointed based on political background were not recalled at that time.
Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Paudel Chhetri confirmed that ambassadors have been recalled from six countries.
They had been recommended for ambassadorial positions in July 2024, when KP Sharma Oli was the prime minister.
