The statement recording of former home minister Ramesh Lekhak has begun.
Joint Attorney Ramhari Sharma Kafle said that Lekhak’s statement recording began on Wednesday morning at the District Government Attorney's Office, Kathmandu.
"His statement recording has been underway since this morning," Kafle said.
He added that preparations are also being made to record a statement from former prime minister KP Sharma Oli.
The District Police Range, Kathmandu, has initiated an investigation into both individuals regarding offenses related to homicide (causing death). The two were arrested by the police from Bhaktapur on Saturday morning.
The inquiry commission formed to investigate the events of September 8 and 9 recommended investigation and action against them under Section 181 (Causing death by recklessness) and Section 182 (Causing death by negligence) of the National Penal Code Act 2017.
Following that recommendation, the police arrested them and moved forward with the legal proceedings.
