Balen Shah, senior leader and parliamentary party leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been appointed as the prime minister.
President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Shah as prime minister earlier on Friday.
PM Shah will take the oath of office and assume his duties later on Friday itself.
The government led by Shah will consist of 15 ministers, including himself.
Although the Constitution allows for a 25-member Cabinet, the number of ministries has been reduced to 15. The RSP had also pledged to reduce the number of ministries in its election manifesto.
