The swearing-in ceremony for the country’s new prime minister is set to take place on March 27.
In the House of Representatives election held on March 5, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secured a majority by winning 182 seats.
The party had already announced senior leader Balen Shah as its prime ministerial candidate before the election, and is preparing to form a government under his leadership.
Accordingly, the swearing-in ceremony for Shah as prime minister has been set for March 27.
RSP leaders held discussions regarding government formation at Royal Singi Hotel in the capital on Thursday. Following the discussions, it was decided that the prime minister would take the oath immediately after newly-elected lawmakers are sworn in.
"The prime minister will take the oath on coming March 27,” RSP Vice-president Swarnim Wagle told Setopati.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has scheduled the oath-taking ceremony for new lawmakers for March 26 at 2 p.m. The RSP has decided to proceed with government formation immediately afterward.
