The swearing-in ceremony for newly-elected members of the National Assembly under the Federal Parliament will be held on March 9.
According to a notice issued by Padma Prasad Pandeya, general secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal will administer the oath of office and secrecy to National Assembly members elected on January 25, in accordance with Article 86 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
The oath-taking ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on March 9 in the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee’s hall in Singha Durbar.
The secretariat has requested newly-elected members to arrive one hour before the ceremony begins, dressed in formal attire or clothing that reflects their cultural identity.
They have also been asked to bring one copy each of their National Assembly membership certificate received from the Election Commission and their citizenship certificate.
Furthermore, members who wish to take the oath in their mother tongue instead of Nepali must, in accordance with Section 68 (2) of the National Assembly Member Election Act, 2018, submit a translated copy of the oath in their mother tongue to the Federal Parliament Secretariat by March 8, as stated in the notice.
