Supporters of a special convention within the Nepali Congress have announced that a special central general convention will be held on January 11 and 12.
The announcement was made at a press conference organized on Wednesday in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu, by more than 54 percent of general convention representatives who had registered a proposal demanding a special general convention.
“We wholeheartedly appeal for the enthusiastic and active presence and participation of all central general convention representatives in the special central general convention scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on January 11 and 12, 2026, with full respect for the spirit and essence of the party statute. We would like to inform you that the necessary organizational preparations are being carried out at a rapid pace,” the press release issued at the event stated.
During the press conference, the organizers also said that the special general convention will be inaugurated at Bhrikuti Mandap on January 11, and that subcommittees have already been formed for various programs to be held thereafter.
