Inquiry commission records Oli’s statement

The inquiry commission formed to investigate the incidents of September 8 and 9 has recorded a statement from then-prime minister KP Sharma Oli.

Commission spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma said that the commission took Oli’s statement on Sunday.

"We have recorded his statement today," Sharma said.

He did not clarify whether the statement was provided in writing or if commission members visited Oli’s residence to record it.

However, a source said that a team from the commission visited Oli’s residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, and recorded his statement.

Previously, Oli had consistently stated in public that he would not appear before the commission to provide a statement.
