The Gen Z group Garikhana Deu, led by Miraj Dhungana, has postponed the demonstration organized at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.
The group had been staging a protest at Maitighar Mandala since 11 a.m. on Monday.
According to Prakash Sharma, a member of the organizing group, the day’s program was called off after police intervened and detained some participants.
According to him, the protest will be held again on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maitighar Mandala.
Garikhana Deu has been protesting with seven different demands. Dhungana also participated in Monday’s protest.
The group has demanded a probe into all corruption cases to date; the election of a directly elected executive prime minister; voting rights for Nepali citizens living abroad; immediate declaration of the Gen Z uprising as a political movement; proper management of the families of martyrs and the injured; action against those responsible for the incidents that occurred on September 8 and 9; and the restructuring of provincial governments.
After youths gathered at Maitighar for the protest, police deployed there had used loudspeakers to urge those without permission not to hold a demonstration.
