Kanchan Bichchhaa, the only lawmaker from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in Madhesh province, has been removed from her position.
Bichchha had joined the government led by Saroj Yadav, the parliamentary party leader of the CPN-UML, without informing her party.
RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden urged her to return from the government, but she did not comply.
Subsequently, the RPP's disciplinary commission recommended action against Bichchha, and the central working committee had decided to suspend her from the party for six months and recall her from the government and provincial assembly.
The RPP's decision was received by the Madhesh Provincial Assembly Secretariat on November 28. Accordingly, the provincial assembly posted a notice on Friday stating that Bichchha has been stripped of her position as a member of the provincial assembly.
In the meantime, the UML-led government has already collapsed and preparations are underway for the formation of a new government.
The RPP will now send a new lawmaker to the Madhesh Provincial Assembly. Bichchha was a lawmaker under the proportional representation (PR) category. In the list of PR candidates submitted by the RPP, Sunita Kumari Thakur from Mahottari is listed second after Bichchha.
