The Nepali Congress has registered the party with the Election Commission for the purpose of participating in the National Assembly and House of Representatives elections.
NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel told Setopati that the party submitted its application for registration at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
“The application for party registration has been submitted to the commission for the purpose of the National Assembly and House of Representatives elections,” he said.
The National Assembly election is scheduled for January 25, 2026, and the House of Representatives election is on March 5.
The Election Commission had set Sunday as the deadline for registering parties for the National Assembly election, while the deadline for registering parties for the House of Representatives election is until November 26.
The Nepali Congress central committee meeting held on Saturday decided to contest the general election and apply for party registration.
The election tickets issued to NC candidates will bear the signature of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
However, If the 15th general convention or a special general convention takes place before the House of Representatives election and results in a change in leadership, the election tickets may be distributed with the new leadership’s signature.
