The All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), affiliated with the CPN-UML, has filed a complaint against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and Hamro Nepal founder Sudan Gurung at the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
Although the police received the complaint, they have not registered it yet.
Former ANNFSU chairman Samik Badal said that the police have sought 24 hours to register the complaint.
"They have said that they will consult with the government attorney and provide information on the registration of the complaint within 24 hours. We will wait until then. If the complaint is not registered, we will go to the court and other places," he said.
Arson was carried out at Singha Durbar, the Supreme Court, and other places on September 9. Badal said that they have collected videos and photos showing those involved in the arson and submitted them to the police.
Earlier on Tuesday, the police registered a complaint filed against then-prime minister KP Sharma Oli and then-home minister Ramesh Lekhak by the families of those who died in the Gen Z movement and sent it to the inquiry commission formed to investigate the incidents of September 8 and 9.
