Another incident of arson occurred at the official residence of Gandaki Chief Minister Surendraraj Pandey on Saturday night.
During the Gen Z protests on September 9, protestors had set fire to and vandalized the chief minister's official residence.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Basnet of the District Police Office, Kaski, said that the arson on Saturday night took place in the room where materials that survived the September 9 incident were piled up.
“As cannabis was found at the site of the arson, we suspect it could be the work of drug users,” DSP Basnet said.
He added that further investigation into the incident is underway.
According to the chief minister’s secretariat, the materials that survived the earlier arson and vandalism by protestors were stored in that room.
Chief Minister Pandey has been staying at the chief secretary’s residence after the arson and vandalism at his official residence.
