CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has made his first public appearance among a large number of party cadres at his new residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur.
On Tuesday, Oli held a collective meeting with politburo member Mahesh Basnet, along with former and current office-bearers of the Youth Association.
Oli, who had been under military protection since September 9, moved to a rented house in Gundu last week.
He had been meeting party leaders individually since the day after moving to Gundu.
He has been holding meetings with Senior Vice-chairman Ishwar Pokharel, vice-chairmen, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, and other office-bearers. He has also called some secretaries for meetings on Tuesday.
On September 9, protestors had set fire to Oli’s residence in Balkot, where he had two houses within the same compound.
Oli has increased his interactions with UML leaders and cadres in Gundu.
A video released on Tuesday also shows him meeting with party cadres and taking photos with them.
However, the video does not show him engaging in conversation with anyone. Some leaders and cadres had visited him earlier, but a large group had not gathered at his residence until Tuesday, when many cadres collectively visited him in Gundu.
Oli resigned as prime minister on September 9 after Gen Z uprising intensified. Immediately after, the army transported him to Shivapuri by helicopter.
