The Election Commission has sought clarification from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) after its chairman, Rajendra Lingden, removed some party leaders from their positions.
Chairman Lingden had removed Nawaraj Subedi as chairman of the disciplinary committee and Sagun Sundar Lawati as party spokesperson on July 9, and Mukunda Shyam Giri as vice-chairman and central committee member on July 18.
Subedi, Lawati, and Giri then approached the Election Commission with a complaint, alleging that Lingden had taken action against them against the party’s statute and without giving them an opportunity to provide clarification.
After receiving the complaint, the Election Commission asked the RPP to provide details about the matter.
Election Commission spokesperson Sita Pokharel Aryal told Setopati that a letter was sent to the RPP to seek clarification regarding the complaint filed by the party leaders.
The RPP has not yet submitted its response to the commission.
