The parliamentary hearing for the three proposed Supreme Court justices and a proposed member of the Judicial Council has been completed.
Senior Advocate Meghraj Pokharel, Chief Judge of the Janakpur High Court Shreekanta Paudel, and Chief Judge of the Dipayal High Court Shanti Singh Thapa were recommended for Supreme Court justices by the Judicial Council on June 10. Similarly, Mahesh Kumar Nepal was recommended as a member of the Judicial Council.
Their parliamentary hearing had begun on Sunday.
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal, a member of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, said that their parliamentary hearing concluded on Monday.
However, the committee has not yet approved the recommendations as further clarification is needed regarding complaints against the individuals undergoing the hearing, Aryal said.
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee usually grants approval immediately after a hearing is completed.
"We have 45 days. A decision will be made within the stipulated time," Aryal said.
