The parliamentary hearing for three individuals recommended for Supreme Court justices is scheduled for Sunday.
Sunita Baral, a member of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, informed that the committee’s meeting held on Thursday decided to summon the three candidates recommended by the Judicial Council for the parliamentary hearing.
On June 10, the Judicial Council recommended Senior Advocate Meghraj Pokharel, Chief Judge of Janakpur High Court Shreekanta Paudel, and Chief Judge of Dipayal High Court Shanti Singh Thapa for Supreme Court justices.
Seven complaints have been filed against them—two against Pokharel, two against Paudel, and one against Thapa. Two complaints are related to procedural issues.
The committee has summoned the complainants on Thursday.
After the parliamentary hearing, the president will appoint the recommended justices. The chief justice will them administer the oath to them.
