Two judges from the temporary Birgunj bench of Janakpur High Court who acquitted Nepali Congress leader Mohammad Aftab Alam in the Rajapur bomb blast case of Rautahat have been transferred.
A meeting of the Judicial Council held on Wednesday decided to transfer judges Khusi Prasad Tharu and Arjun Maharjan to the council.
A source said that both judges have been sent to the Supreme Court on deputation.
On May 28, a joint bench of Judges Tharu and Maharjan acquitted Alam and three others in the Rajapur bomb blast case.
Along with Alam, his brother Mohammad Mahtab Alam, Sheikh Seroj alias Sheikh Saraj, and Badri Sahani were also acquitted.
The Rautahat District Court had sentenced all four to life imprisonment on April 25, 2024.
A complaint was also filed with the Judicial Council against the two judges for their acquittal ruling.
Workers of the CPN (Majority) entered courtroom and misbehaved with judges Tharu and Maharjan for acquitting Alam. Three individuals were arrested on charges of misbehavior.
