A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against Governor Biswo Nath Poudel.
The petition, filed by advocates Bishal Thapa, Ananta Raj Luintel, and Pratibha Upreti, was registered on Tuesday.
Hearing on the petition has been scheduled for Wednesday.
The petitioners have named the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance, the Governor Recommendation Committee, Nepal Rastra Bank, and Governor Poudel as defendants.
The petition challenges Poudel's eligibility for the governor’s position.
The petitioners have also sought an interim order to block Poudel from signing currency notes, as he is set to do so in his capacity.
Advocates Thapa and Upreti had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Poudel earlier too. However, the Supreme Court administration refused to register the petition saying it was filed merely on the basis of news reports suggesting Poudel was being appointed as governor.
