The ruling coalition has announced that it will guarantee voting rights of Nepalis living abroad.
Announcing the government’s common minimum program on Monday, government spokesperson and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel said that voting rights of Nepalis living abroad will be guaranteed.
“An integrated election act will be formulated with provisions that incorporate guaranteeing voting rights of Nepalis living abroad, electronic voting and other issues,” Paudel said.
The Supreme Court had issued a mandamus in September 2018 instructing to formulate laws for ensuring voting rights of Nepali citizens who are staying abroad.
