Shalik Ram Jamakattel of Maoist Center appointed Bagmati CM

CPN (Maoist Center) leader Shalik Ram Jamakattel has been appointed Bagmati chief minister (CM) on Monday.

Provincial Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma appointed Jamakattel as Bagmati CM.

Jamakattel earlier staked claim for the post of CM with support of 70 lawmakers including those from CPN-UML, Maoist Center, RPP and CPN (Unified Socialist).

NC is the single largest party in the 110-strong provincial assembly with 37 seats, UML has 27, Maoist Center 21, RPP 13, Unified Socialist seven, and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Hamro Nepali Party two each.

The seven-party ruling coalition has agreed that Maoist Center and UML will take turns for CM in Bagmati.
