Nineteen Nepalis held hostage in Malaysia are set to return to Nepal after they were rescued by the Nepal Embassy in Malaysia.
Among the 19, six are set to return to Nepal on Tuesday.
After learning about Nepali workers being held hostage in Malaysia, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had instructed Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi to rescue them.
The government had then contacted the Nepal Embassy in Malaysia through the Foreign Ministry.
As per the information provided by the Nepal Embassy in Malaysia to the Prime Minister’s Office, arrangements have been made to provide food and accommodation in a Nepali hotel to all the workers who had gone to work at PRS Forest Management company with the manpower company concerned bearing the food and accommodation expenses.
The prime minister’s secretariat has informed that steps are also being taken to resolve the problems faced by 28 Nepalis working in another company in Malaysia.
