Twelve House of Representatives (HoR) members were not present when the Constitution amendment bill was presented for voting on Saturday to implement the new map including areas of Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipu Lekh.
A total of 258 lawmakers were present in the 275-strong House when the bill was presented for voting on Saturday and all 258 voted in support of the bill.
The missing lawmakers include four from ruling CPN, three each from main Opposition Nepali Congress (NC) and Rashtriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP, and two from Socialist Party Nepal.
The absent lawmakers include Gopal Bahadur Bam, Haribol Gajurel, Dhan Bahadur Budha and Shiva Kumar Mandal of CPN; Nagendra Kumar Raya, Surya Bahadur KC and Gyan Kumari Chhantyal of NC; Amrita Devi Agrahari, Dulari Devi Khatweni and Pramod Sah of RJP; and Sarita Giri and Surya Narayan Yadav of Socialist Party.
Giri was present at the start of the House meeting Saturday but left the House after her amendment proposal was rejected and Speaker Sapkota refused to allot time to her to speak at that instance.
Speaker Agni Sapkota did not participate in voting while four other lawmakers are suspended.
The suspended lawmakers include Vijay Kumar Gachchhadar and Mohammad Aftab Alam of NC, Hari Narayan Chaudhari of Socialist Party and Resham Chaudhary of RJP.
