The meeting of leaders of the faction of Prime Minister and CPN Chairman KP Sharma Oli and that of senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal at the latter's residence in Koteshwore has ended Monday evening.
Speaking after the meeting Deputy Prime Minister Ishwore Pokharel told Setopati that informal talks were held during the meeting but no decision was taken. He said secretariat meeting will be held on Tuesday.
Raghuji Panta from the Nepal faction said they cleared the air. "The secretariat meeting will be held tomorrow. We will then have to go to the standing committee meeting together. It will be chaos if we go there with the current problems," Panta stated. "We talked about at least tackling one kind of problems."
Ishwore Pokharel, Bishnu Paudel, Shankar Pokharel and Pradeep Gyawali represented the Oli faction during the meeting while Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey and Raghuji Panta represented Nepal.
Internal dynamics in the ruling party is very fluid in recent times with CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepal allying to oust Oli from Baluwatar.
The Dahal-Nepal faction has an upper hand after Oli was exposed in the ordinance fiasco. Oli is trying to negotiate a deal with Nepal to remain in power.
