Ruling CPN has called standing committee meeting after almost a year.
The secretariat meeting Monday afternoon has decided to convene standing committee meeting in Kathmandu on December 15 and 16, according to a secretariat member.
CPN had not convened standing committee meeting since January. Leaders in recent times had been demanding it be called to discuss contemporary political issues.
The secretariat meeting chaired by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the party office in Dhumbarahi has listened to the demands and decided to call standing committee meeting.
The party has called another secretariat meeting on December 13 two days before the standing committee meeting.
CPN Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli did not attend the Monday's secretariat meeting due to ill health.
Dahal was granted executive rights on November 20 and he has started to convene party meetings after Oli fell ill.
Dahal had also convened the secretariat meeting on December 4 that asked the lower committees to send review of the election for House of Representatives (HoR), provincial assembly, and local bodies.
