Results of by-election for the post of ward chair of 39 local bodies held on Saturday have been declared so far with the ruling CPN winning 22 out of them.
The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has won 11, and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) and Socialist Party Nepal three each.
Votes are being counted for the election for House of Representatives constituency of Kaski-2, provincial assembly constituency Bhaktapur-1(A), and mayor of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City.
CPN candidate Bidya Bhattarai leads in Kaski-2 with 6,795 votes ahead of Khem Raj Paudel of NC who has secured 3,094. CPN candidate and Bhattarai's late husband, Rabindra Adhikari, had won the constituency in the last general election.
NC candidate Krishna Lal Bhandel leads in Bhaktapur-1(A) with 10,395 votes followed by Devi Prasad Dhakal of CPN at 7,959.
CPN candidate Prakash Rai, meanwhile, is leading by a slim margin of 17 in Dharan. Rai has secured 2,309 votes for the post previously won by CPN while Tilak Rai has 2,292.
Counting of votes for the provincial assembly in Baglung-2(B) and Dang-3(B) will start later on Sunday, according to the Election Commission.
