The Dahunsha District Court on Friday has released Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) lawmaker Pramod Kumar Sah, arrested on charge of vandalizing the counter of Buddha Air at Janakpur Airport, on normal date.
A bench of Justice Tej Narayan Paudel has released Sah on date deeming that he need not be kept in custody for investigations.
The court on Wednesday had granted Sah's custody for four days. Sah was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Tuesday within an hour of issue of an arrest warrant by the court.
The House of Representatives (HoR) member elected from Sarlahi had allegedly vandalized Buddha Air's counter and misbehaved with the staffers on Monday after his flight was delayed. He lost his cool as the plane that had to fly at 11:40 in the morning did not arrive even by 1:30 in the afternoon.
He had vented his ire at the Buddha Air staffers pointing that passengers had suffered due to the management's negligence. Police say lawmaker Sah smashed the counter with his fists and pushed a staffer during the altercation.
The plane arrived only at 2:30 but the airline staffers refused to board Sah even after that. Chief District Officer of Dhanusha Pradeep Raj Kandel and the police played peacemaker and convinced the staffers to finally board Sah.
The Airlines Operators Association of Nepal after the incident issued a seven-day ultimatum threatening to halt all the flights if Sah were not punished.
He can be jailed for five-10 years if found guilty of offense regarding civil aviation.
