Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived for the two-day state visit of Nepal on Saturday.
Xi landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at around 4:15 Saturday afternoon on an Air China plane. President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli and other dignitaries welcomed Xi at the airport.
He was given guard of honor at the TIA by a Nepal Army unit.
Xi is the first Chinese president to visit Nepal after Jiang Zemin in 1996.
He is scheduled to meet President Bhandari later in the evening and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba after that.
President Bhandari will host a banquet dinner at Soaltee Hotel after that.
Xi will meet CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at 10:30 Sunday morning. He will meet PM Oli at 11:30. He is scheduled to fly back to China at one in the afternoon.
