The statement of Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has contradicted with the statement issued by his secretariat after allegation of raping a woman working at the federal parliament secretariat on Sunday.
"Speaker was at his office in Singha Durbar at Sunday noon. He returned to his residence in Baluwatar at around two in the afternoon. I want to make it clear through this statement that he did not go anywhere else after that," read the statement issued Monday night by Mahara's press advisor Dilli Malla.
But Mahara himself has conceded with nepalnews.com that he had gone to the woman's apartment on Sunday and had a drink with her. He has also conceded that the woman is an old acquaintance, a friend and his student, and he has gone to her place even earlier.
But he has refuted the allegation claiming that such incident did not happen even though he went there. "This is baseless propaganda. Fake news. The ire of employee integration has been vented on me. There is no position for health staffers inside the Singha Durbar. The General Administration Ministry made arrangements of staffers. I asked them to accept integration but they disagreed. They have, therefore, made up stories," Mahara told nepalnews.com.
