The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has obstructed the House on Sunday demanding action against the CPN cadres who attacked the party's president in Banke Kiran Koirala.
NC lawmakers took exception to Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa comments during his briefing to the House of Representatives (HoR) that NC has politicized the incident.
NC Chief Whip claimed that the government does not want to punish those guilty in the incident and the police refused to even accept complaint identifying the culprits, and urged the government to immediately initiate action.
Minister Thapa put the government's position on the incident twice claiming that the government has already initiated action against the culprits and assured that those violating law, and compromising law and order will be punished no matter who they are.
But the NC lawmakers were not satisfied with the response and started to chant slogans and obstructed the House.
Three CPN cadres have been arrested for assaulting Koirala during the second round of party's awareness campaign on Thursday.
Locals CPN leader Lok Bahadur Shahi, and cadres Nirmal Khatri and Roshan Singh Thakuri have been arrested Thursday night following official complaint by Koirala.
The CPN cadres had attacked Koirala and other cadres during the party's program held at the Red Cross Hall in the afternoon. Koirala's hand was broken due to the assault.
