The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has urged the ruling CPN to leave the central office from the government land in Dhumbarahi.
Pointing that the party had kept its office in government land violating the regulation about use of government land, NC has demanded apologies.
Kantipur daily on Tuesday has published a news report stating that the party's central office in Dhumbarahi is in public land. The-then CPN-UML party had rented the building of Pasang Lhamu Academy after the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015 damaged its party office in Balkhu. It is now the central office of ruling CPN after unification of the then UML and CPN (Maoist Center).
The academy has itself leased the place from government. The working procedure for registration and leasing of government land states that the leased property cannot be provided to a third party.
"The news report that ruling CPN has kept its central office in government land against regulation and morality has baffled and saddened Congress," NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said addressing a press conference at the party office on Thursday. "We hope that CPN will apology for such serious mistake and will prevent further shaming of regulations and morality by leaving the government land."
