The ruling CPN has appointed chiefs of four of its six important departments.
Chiefs of organization department, school department, foreign department, and policy and academy department have been appointed from the erstwhile CPN-UML.
A meeting of secretariat members from the erstwhile UML held at the prime minister's official residence Thursday night appointed Bam Dev Gautam as the head of organization department. Another secretariat member Ishwore Pokharel will lead the school department, secretariat member Madhav Kumar Nepal foreign department, and secretariat member Jhala Nath Khanal policy and academy department.
CPN has 32 central departments out of which 18 will be headed by leaders from former UML and the remaining by former CPN (Maoist Center).
"Four departments have got the chiefs. We are holding discussions to appoint chiefs of the other departments," a secretariat member from former UML told Setopati. "All the departments will be completed soon."
The leaders have agreed that Chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and General Secretary Bishnu Paudel will not lead any department despite Paudel showing interest to lead the finance department.
The former Maoist Center leaders will get to lead finance and publicity departments out of the six important departments but the leaders have yet to agree on chiefs of those two departments.
Chairman Dahal has asked Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha to pick one of those two departments, but Shrestha has not showed interest to lead either.
The former Maoist leaders have not agreed on chief of any of the 14 departments it gets to lead.
