The Supreme Court (SC) has ruled former Constituent Assembly (CA) member Dol Bahadur Karki guilty of corruption.
Karki was arrested while taking bribe promising to make a person police inspector when he was CA member.
The Special Court nine years back had found him guilty and sentenced him for six months and slapped a fine of Rs 100,000. He had appealed the verdict with the Apex Court.
A joint bench of Justices Depak Kumar Karki and Kumar Regmi on Tuesday has endorsed the Special Court verdict.
A Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) team in March 2011 had arrested Karki and his associate Swami Brahmananda Udasin from his rented apartment in Bhimsengola, Kathmandu with a bribe of Rs 100,000.
Karki, who was elected CA member through proportional representation (PR) system from the then CPN-UML, was considered close to Bam Dev Gautam. Gautam was the home minister when he was arrested for taking bribe by promising to make the person police inspector.
The Nepal Police headquarters had announced vacancy for 80 inspectors at the time.
