Additional security persons have been deployed after cadres of Netra Bikram Chand led CPN and police had a gunfight at Heyangla of Silichong rural municipality 1 in Sankhuwasabha Monday morning.
Two teams of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) have been sent to the area on two Mi-17 choppers of Nepal Army, according to sources at the Nepal Police headquarters.
The APF team of 25 is led by Inspector Umesh Thapa and the 25-strong police team by Inspector Shekhar Jung Malla.
A join patrol team including nine from Sankhuwasabha Police and 10 APF personnel and CPN cadres exchanged fire Monday morning. The police team retaliated after the CPN cadres opened fire on the team.
The Chand cadres scattered after the gunfight that continued for almost 20 minutes and the police team is safe, according to the Nepal Police headquarters sources. There were no casualties on either side, according to the police.
