Nepal Police IGP Sarbendra Khanal has claimed that Sarlahi incharge of Netra Bikram Chand led CPN Kumar Paudel was also involved in other criminal activities. Speaking in the meeting of State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the parliament on Monday, he added that Paudel had a criminal background. "There were different criminal complaints against Paudel," IGP Khanal stressed. "He had been arrested repeatedly including on charge of smuggling timber." Paudel was killed near Lakhandehi river in Lalbandi municipality 1 on Thursday when the police fired in defense after four Chand cadres traveling on two motorcycles opened fire on them, according to police. But the Chand-led CPN has called Paudel's death an extrajudicial killing claiming that he was killed after being taken under control.
