Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has claimed that Sarlahi incharge of Netra Bikram Chand led CPN Kumar Paudel was killed in a clash with the police.
Speaking in the meeting of State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the parliament on Monday, he repeated the claims of police that Paudel was killed when the police fired in defense after four Chand cadres travelling on two motorcycles opened fire on them.
Paudel was killed on the spot on Thursday after the gunfight with the police near Lakhandehi river in Lalbandi municipality 1, according to the police.
Minister Thapa added a sixer revolver, six bullets of 303 rifle, and a home-made pistol were recovered from Paudel.
The Chand-led CPN has called Paudel's death an extrajudicial killing claiming that he was killed after being taken under control.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also started investigation on the killing.
