Former minister Sanjay Kumar Sah has received life sentence for Janakpur bombing that killed five persons.
A single bench of Justice Rajesh Kumar Katwal of Dhanusha District Court has slapped a life sentence of mastermind of the bombing Sah on Thursday. Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary, Ranjit Sah, Jaya Prakash Chaudhary, Suresh Kumar Karna, Mukesh Kumar Karna and Ripendra Jha have also received life imprisonment.
Seven persons including theater artiste Ranju Jha, and Maithli activist Jhagaru Mandal, Dipendra Das, Bimal Sharan Das and Suresh Upadhyaya were killed when a bomb was detonated at a sit-in staged by Mithila State Struggle Committee at Ramananda Chowk of Janakpur on April 30, 2012.
Sah was elected to the First Constituent Assembly (CA) in 2008 on a Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal ticket. He became state minister during that term.
He was also elected to the Second CA in 2003 from the then Sadbhawan Party led by Rajendra Mahato.
