The District Police Office, Achham has arrested four leaders and cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led group.
The police arrested the Chand-led group members when the latter opened fire at a security patrol team in Jhata village of Ramaroshan rural municipality of the district, said Janak Bahadur Shahi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of District Police Office, Achham.
Among the arrested are Suresh Rawat, treasurer of ANNISU Revolutionary, Accham, close to Biplav group, Suresh Saud of Youth Association district member, Bhumisara Thami of All Nepal Women Association Revolutionary and Rajendra Dhami of Youth Association.
A police squad had reached the Jhata village of Ramaroshan rural municipality on Tuesday acting on a tip-off that the Chand group's members have been staying there.
"Among nine members of the Chand group, five had fled the scene and four were arrested. The police had opened fire in response to the gunfire from Biplav side", DSP Shahi informed.
However, Sher Bahadur Deuba, in-charge of Chand group Doti district, claimed that their cadres did not open fire at the police.
"Police suddenly started firing and arrested some members of our group", Deuba added.
