Achham Police has arrested four leaders and cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN.
The police arrested the Chand-led group members when the latter opened fire at a security patrol team in Jhata village of Ramaroshan rural municipality in the district, said Janak Bahadur Shahi, Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) of District Police Office, Achham.
Among the arrested are Suresh Rawat, treasurer of ANNISU Revolutionary, Accham, Suresh Saud, a Youth Association district member, Bhumisara Thami of All Nepal Women Association Revolutionary and Rajendra Dhami of Youth Association.
A police squad had reached the Jhata village on Tuesday acting on a tip-off.
"Among nine members of the Chand group, five had fled the scene and four were arrested. The police had opened fire in response to the gunfire from Chand's side," DSP Shahi claimed.
However, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Doti incharge of the group, claimed that their cadres did not open fire at the police.
"Police suddenly started firing and arrested some members of our group," Deuba added. (
