CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is leaving for America Sunday evening for treatment of his wife Sita Dahal who has been ill for a long time.
Daughter Ganga and a nurse, who is caring for Sita, will also accompany the Dahal couple for the trip. Dahal is expected to remain in America for up to 10 days.
Leaders of the ruling CPN had made efforts to conclude organizational unification before Dahal leaving for America but that has yet to be completed. Many leaders, therefore, have advised Dahal to postpone the America trip. Dahal is currently consulting the leaders about the trip.
"Sita Dahal, daughter Ganga and a nurse are scheduled to leave at five in the evening," Dahal's associate Bishnu Sapkota told Setopati. "Whether chairman would accompany them would be decided by noon."
Sita has diabetes, hypertension and thyroid problems. Her health deteriorated after death of the only son Prakash Dahal in November 2017.
Sita was taken to Singapore for treatment toward the end of 2018 after tests at different hospitals in Nepal could not diagnose her ailment. She was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy there.
Dahal had taken her to the Tatopani pond in Myagdi for water therapy in November 2018.
