Netra Birkam Chand, general secretary of CPN whose activities were banned by the government on Tuesday, has stated that extracting donation is a fundamental right of the party.
Issuing a press statement two days after the Cabinet meeting banned the party's activities, Chand has claimed that the party has not taken money from any foreign power center and acted as agent for commission, and has collected donation to move the revolution forward on its own.
The Cabinet meeting on Tuesday banned activities of Chand-led CPN after recent rise in destructive activities and extortion drive by the party.
Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday instructed the local bodies to not provide donation to the Chand-led CPN. "Don't be scared and do not give donation to the looters," he urged addressing the annual meeting of Nepal Municipality Association pointing that he has heard about the people's representatives at the local level getting letters from the Maoists demanding donations.
But Chand argued that extracting donation for the betterment of people is a fundamental right of the party. "We humbly request everyone to not remain in any kind of illusion about this and provide all kinds of help to end the broker capitalist government," the statement reads.
The party has said it will not bow down to the government. "We are ready to make the most difficult journey for our principles but we will not bow down to the brokers and the broker capitalist government," the statement adds.
Chand has also warned the government of a befitting reply should it try to oppress the party. "We will provide jaw-breaking response if the KP (Oli)-Badal (Ram Bahadur Thapa) company oppresses the party," the statement states.
Chand has claimed that the government has been oppressing the party and its cadres ever since it boycotted the elections and added that three cadres have been killed and over a dozen injured during the course of state oppression. "Youth from Shivgadi, Anchalpur in Kapilvastu Durga Roka was shot at a toilet after arrest (it was initially said to be in the jungle) in the name of operation. Hundreds of leaders and cadres have been arrested and held as prisoners. Many have been framed in false cases," the statement claims.
