A powerful cylinder bomb was detonated at the office of Bharatpur Metropolis-5, Torikhet hours after the government has banned the CPN formed by Netra Birkam Chand after splitting from the then Maoists Tuesday.
The ward office has been burnt down destroying official documents, and the window panes smashed after the explosion immediately after midnight, according to chief of Nepal Police in Province 3 DIG Dipak Kumar Thapa. The fire was taken under control by mobilizing security personnel and fire engine of the metropolis around an hour later.
The incident at the ward office, that has a five-foot compound wall and a gate, took place amidst massive mobilization of police in the district.
Police detained six persons immediately after the incident on charge of their involvement in the explosion and are carrying out investigation.
The police has suspected involvement of Chand led Maoists in the incident.
