The Nepal Police has provided security for CK Raut who joined mainstream politics on Friday withdrawing his campaign for free Madhes and accepting Nepal's territorial integrity.
Raut has been provided security cover by the police since he signed an 11-point agreement at the Rastriya Sabha Griha.
A sub-inspector was deployed for Raut's security when he arrived at the Rastriya Sabha Griha to sign the agreement. Local police has been deployed for his security after that, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson SSP Uttam Raj Subedi. SSP Subedi revealed that formal decision to provide bodyguard to Raut, however, has yet to be taken.
"Nepal Police has provided security to him fearing he may be under risk from his own group after agreeing to join mainstream politics," Subedi stated. "The local police will provide security wherever he travels."
Raut, who was released by the Supreme Court (SC) on date Thursday, signed an 11-point agreement with Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa at the Rastriya Sabha Griha in presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Raut denounced violence and pledged to participate in peaceful politics.
