Prime Minister Balen Shah held a telephone conversation with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
During the conversation, PM Shah informed his New Zealand counterpart that search, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts had been intensified following the Bhotekoshi flood. He said that the search for missing foreign nationals, including New Zealand citizens, was continuing with high priority.
According to the prime minister’s secretariat, PM Shah expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Luxon for the humanitarian assistance worth NZ$2 million provided by New Zealand.
PM Shah said that Nepal is highly vulnerable to climate-induced disasters and expressed confidence that the New Zealand government would play a constructive role in international forums in supporting financial assistance for climate-related loss and damage.
Prime Minister Luxon expressed sorrow over the difficult circumstances faced by Nepal and conveyed condolences and solidarity on behalf of the New Zealand government and people, according to the prime minister’s secretariat.
