The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (United) has called for the effective implementation of the constitution.
Addressing the news conference organized by the party here Tuesday, party chair duo Pashupati Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana and Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani said that their party was committed to the constitution implementation.
Rana said devolution of the center's authority to the local level was the strong point of federalism but the province government misusing its authority was wrong.
He said that the unification of his party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) led by Kamal Thapa could not take place as they did not agree on 'the plough' as their common election symbol. Rana however said that his party was open for dialogue to reach a consensus.
Lohani said that Nepal as a Hindu state with religious freedom and constitutional monarchy acceptable to all were the RPP (United)'s agenda. He was critical of the role of the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress and also the government, saying the former could not play the role of an effective opposition while the latter failed to arrest corruption and provide good governance to the people.
