Nepal has issued a statement on the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack on security convoy in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint. "As the current Chair of SAARC, Nepal, while underlining the importance of peace and stability in South Asia, calls on both sides to exercise utmost restraint and not engage in actions that would threaten peace and security in the region," the statement reads.
Nepal has also urged the two countries to seek solution through dialogue and peaceful means in order to ease tension and normalize the situation. Nepal had also issued a statement immediately after the Pulwama attack and condemned the act of terrorism.
Tensions between nuclear rivals India and Pakistan has escalated after the Pulwama attack with India making a pre-dawn airstrike on Tuesday that New Delhi said targeted a terrorist training camp in northwest Pakistan.
