A victory ceremony is to be organized at Makawanpurgadhi Durbar area on January 24 marking the 256th year of Nepal’s victory over the Bengali troop in a battle.
The Nepali army led by Prithvi Narayan Shah had defeated the Bengali troop equipped with European firearms which had launched an assault on Nepal in that battle.
Management, renovation, reconstruction and cleaning of remains of Makawanpurgadhi Durbar, a fort, has been carrying out for the same.
Chief Minister of Province-3, Dormani Poudel's Press Coordinator Prakash Dahal said that Chief Minister Poudel visited the Makawanpurgadhi Tuesday to take stock about the preparation for the victory ceremony.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to arrive Makawanpurgadhi to address the victory ceremony on January 24.
Magh 10 is celebrated as the victory ceremony to commemorate Nepal’s victory over the troop led by Nawab Kasim Ali Khan of Bengal on Magh 10, 1819 BS.
Chairperson of Makawanpurgadhi rural municipality, Bidur Humagain, said that all the preparations for the victory ceremony are on full swing.
